Hello from Michigan!

Good morning loves! I'm feeling very disconnected from the blog world right now. I haven't had time to do any posts (aside from the couple guest posts I have had) read or comment on any blogs lately. But, it's ok because I'm having a super sweet time in Michigan with Woody and his folks. :-) Woody's parents live right on a lake so we have spent a lot of time out on the boat.

Woody's parents are so cute :-)

We've also gone on walks, drank beers :-), had epic scrabble battles and of course eaten lots of food.

Even when away from home, I have to make sure I have a big salad at least once a day!
 Woody's tripple decker turkey sandwich.
My huge salad.

I made an interesting/awesome combo for breakfast the other morning that I want to tell you about.
Udi's Gluten-Free Bagel, toasted and topped with avocado, fried runny egg, maple syrup and cinnamon. Try it :-)

We celebrated Pancake Sunday yesterday and make pancakes for Woody's mom and dad. (Happy Father's Day!) :-)

Pamela's Gluten-Free Pancakes topped with greek yogurt, fruit and maple syrup. Mmm....so good right down to my soul!

We've also spent some time reconnecting with some of Woody's old High School friends.
We went to a barbecue at a friend's house and right when we got there, our friend's daughter demanded that we ALL get in her "Cool Lagoon." Naturally we did as we were told.
 Quite refreshing :-)

I made Peanut Butter Bars for the barbecue. They disappeared quickly :-)

I have not had a good solid workout while I've been here and I've also been pretty relaxed about drinking beers and eating sugar and stuff. I'm trying to not let it bother me and am just telling myself that I will get back on track when I get home. I also plan on getting back to a consistent blogging schedule when I return.

Is there anything that you would like to see more of or less of on my blog? Even though it's been four months or so since I've started this blog, I still feel like I'm just getting the hang of it. I'm sure it's a never ending process of unfolding and evolving. Good thing it's such a fun, pleasurable process.

Well, speaking of NOT working out, I'm about to change that and bust out an intense BodyRock workout.

Much love and blessings from my heart to yours. Have a beautiful, amazing day my friends!

Hunny hunny hunny. Don't even worry about eating differently and not exercising while you are on vacation. It will all balance out on its own, I promise. You will crave fresh foods and have the burning urge to go workout when you get home - and it'll be fine. :)
I just got back from 8 days in Austin, where I grew up, and I ate lots of stuff in much larger quantities than I usually do (sweets, etc) and everytime I started to get a little iffy about it, I just gave myself a good thwack and snapped out of it. We must enjoy our vacations to the fullest! And sometimes, that means eating an entire pint of japanese sweet potato icecream in one sitting.... because I know I cant get sh*t that good at home!

It looks like you're having an amazing time and I wouldn't worry at all about the workouts or the eating. You're still cramming in LOTS of fresh fruits and veggies and I'm sure you're bopping around and on the go quite a bit. You're living life and loving it so no need to fret, right? And no need to worry about the infrequent blogging either! You'll have plenty to discuss when you get back but right now you should just enjoy every second of being with awesome people and doing awesome things in the summer sun :)
Oh, your pictures make me smile so much! Thank you for sharing. Nothing makes me smile more than seeing families have good times together.

avocado + egg + maple syrup = I have to try that! You come up with the most awesome combos.

I love how much Woody looks like his mom...adorable!

Take care,
Emily

I love that you were in Michigan, so close to my hometown! What lake does Woody's parents live on? My parents live on a lake in Clarkston, I LOVE going home to visit! Also, I did BodyRock yesterday for the first time..... it rocked my body! (I'm soooo sore, it feels good!) Welcome back to the blog-o-sphere, I've missed you!!!

So sorry for the late reply, my love! I am so behind in blogging. Woody's parents live on Brendel Lake. I'm glad you loved BodyRock! It's intense, huh? Hurts so good :-)
I think taking a break from the blogworld is always super refreshing, so enjoy the break! And don't worry about your normal routine - you'll get back into it in no time. All your pictures look awesome, especially the ones out on the lake! And I bet Woody's parents LOVED your pancakes - they looked delicious. I like the sweet-salty egg/maple syrup/bagel combo! Gonna have to try that!

Great to hear you're having a good time! Are those Mary's crackers on your salad? Love to use them as lazy croutons!!

I totally use Mary's crackers on salads too. The crackers in the picture aren't Mary's though. They were some kind of rice/black sesame crackers that I found at Whole Foods. I can't remember the brand name but they were super good!
YAY Michigan! I hope you are having a great time, I am upset that we are off timing with being at my parents by like a week! lol! I guess I will have to see you when I get back from Michigan then. Enjoy the rest of your trip! And your food looks amazing, no matter where you go! I LOVE that you have such great dedication to stick with great food, that is a tough one to do while traveling sometimes. :)
At first, I was worrying about my eating habits when I travel to Paris two weekends from now--and then, I was like, if I want to have dessert everyday (vegan, of course), then, heck, I'll have that dessert. I'm going to be in Paris, of all places! Might as well celebrate! Besides, I'll be walking all day long, so it'll balance out.
Enjoy the remainder of your stay in Michigan! :D
P.S. Mary's crackers do make pretty awesome faux croutons, hehehe.

Vacations are vacations. They are meant for you to relax, have a good time and not worry about "getting the workout done". You seem to be doing just fine with eating veggies and being active! :D Have fun on the remainder of your trip! Hot California misses you!
