Cleanse Day 7 (One more week to go!)

Hey my friends! I hope you all had a beautiful weekend. I'm happy because Woody and I are a week into our cleanse. Do you know what that means?! We're half way done! Woohoo! It really has been awesome and we've been eating such good food but I have been missing certain things, like chocolate. And pancakes! I don't know why but I can't get pancakes out of my mind. They are going to taste AMAZING once we're done cleansing! I am definitely looking forward to it!

As for our cleansing eats, not too much has changed. Still juicing a lot.

And eating smoothies in a bowl with oats sprinkled on top.

I know that totally looks like murky swamp water but it was delicious, I promise! It's definitely not unusual for me to consume food that looks gross but tastes amazing. :-) Not everything can be pretty!

  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 1/2 banana
  • Large handful of spinach
  • 6 frozen strawberries
  • 1 tbsp flax seeds
  • 1 scoop of Sun Warrior Chocolate Protein Powder
Yum :-)

Lots of salads being consumed as well. I have a NEW favorite salad that I am about to share with you right now!

Coconut, Spice and Everything Nice Salad :-)

  • Mixed greens
  • baby tomatoes
  • avocado
  • cilantro
  • baked sweet potato
  • chickpeas
  • coconut oil
  • salt
  • pepper
  • cinnamon
  • cumin
  • garlic powder
  • chili powder
Oh man, the combination of all the spices and coconut in this salad was KILLER! Seriously so so amazing. I have been trying to get pretty creative with my salads so I'm not eating the same damn one every day :-) How boring would that be?! ;-) Life is too short to eat boring food.

Dinner was quite amazing tonight too.

Coconut rice with curried lentil/veggie mash. I'll probably post the recipe tomorrow or in a couple days. It would be wrong to not share this recipe. It's GOOD, my friends. It's one of those healthy meals that nourishes your body AND your soul. It made my heart sigh...and say thank you.

Speaking of my heart. These two babies warm my heart to the core.

Can you believe that they used to not like each other?! When we first got Django (on the right), Kona (on the left) was like, what is that little thing??? She would growl and snarl at him and all he wanted to do was play and cuddle with her. Now they're totally BFF's :-)

If I don't do a post tomorrow, then I wish you all a beautiful, blessed monday!

Something to reflect on:

May the sun bring you new energies by day
May the moon softly restore you by night
May the rain wash away any worries you may have
May gentle breezes refresh your soul
And all the days of your life
May you walk through the world
And know its beauty

~Apache Blessing

Now...a question.

I know most bloggers ask a question (or more) at the end of their post. Sometimes I feel inspired to do this and other times I don't. How do you feel about this? Would you like me to post questions? Do you feel compelled to comment more when a question is asked? I would appreciate the input! Thanks loves <3

Yes! Definitely try the salad combo! So good :-) And thanks. I know, my dogs are ridiculously adorable :-)
Wow that salad looks delicious! i think I'm going to have to try that. Congrats on sticking to your cleanse! I just got done with one very similar and felt so vamped and refreshed afterwards. Cutting out the alcohol and sugar really made a difference in my energy level.
I got your message! Thank you again for the package that I am quite EAGERLY anticipating!! You are the sweetest and you totally made my week!!! :) I'll let you know when it arrives.
As for the asking questions, I think it's a great idea. If you have something worth asking that is. :) Don't do it just to do it, but it's a great way to promote conversation under the comments section.

Aww yay! Thanks. I'm glad to have made your week! I'm excited for you to receive your package of goodies! And thanks for the input about the whole question asking thing. That's a great point and kind of what I was feeling too. I should only ask a question if I feel inspired to, not because I think I should.
Awww, your pups are adorable!! They look so content :) And juicing - I've actually never had realy fruit and veg juice before. There's a bar at a restaurant relatively nearby but for some reason, I haven't had anything from it yet! They also sell iced mates (not sure if you're familiar with that? They're really good!) so I always just get an iced mate instead, I guess...
As for questions; I know I, personally, am far more likely to feel like I have a comment of worth if there is a question or two at the end to answer - or maybe even just a thought to reflect on. But, as the comment above me says - I wouldn't necessarily just ask one because you feel you have to. I try to ask questions because I'm really interested in the answers and like hearing everybody's thoughts...but some days nothing good comes to mind so I just don't ask anything! I mean...if you have a really deep, thoughtful post, asking people what they had for breakfast might take away from the post content, ya know? :P

Thanks love <3 I'm so surprised that you've never had a fresh squeezed fruit/veggie juice before! If you come over, I'll make you one ;-) Iced Mate??? Um, yeah. LOVE them. I usually drink mate every morning. It really gets me going! Thanks for your input about question asking. I appreciate it. I definitely feel ya :-)
Can't wait to see the recipe for the curried lentils!

Yay! I'll post it soon :-)
Me too, I'm excited to learn how to make that curry dish!!! And I love your pottery!
Good luck on eating pancakes again. The first time I did a cleanse, I stuck to it for a month, and on the day it was over we ate pizza. I wanted to puke, it was not what I remembered it to be! Keeping my fingers crossed for you on the pancakes!
youre so lovely and so are your eats. What cleanse is this? it looks really good to me! and your pups are ADORABLE!

Aww thank you Lindsay! You are lovely as well....and SO sweet. I'm not following a specific cleanse. My partner, Woody, and I just decided to go two weeks without any sugar, dairy, alcohol, caffeine, meat, wheat, and gluten. So we've just been focusing on lots of fresh fruit and veggies, juices, smoothies, rice, beans, etc. It's totally similar to how I usually eat anyway. But I definitely indulge in treats every day which I have really been missing! I want to bake! And eat some chocolate :-)
I love blog questions! Sometimes there's so much going on in a bloggers post that I don't know what to start with. Leaving your readers with questions helps to kick start the conversation. On the other end though, have fun coming UP with the questions for your readers. I find that's usually the hardest thing for me?!

Digging that salad. I've sent myself the ingredients list and will try it tonight. I have EVERYTHING at home!
Heyo! Thank you for your comment on my blog, because it's how I was able to find yours and... oh my word... your food looks so fresh and delicious! And your puppies?! So adorable! I've read your "About Me" page and I absolutely love your take on healthy living. I'm looking forward to reading more of your blog!

And as for your question, I always like to ask a question at the end of my posts and find it a lot easier to comment on a post when there's a question to direct my thoughts. Plus, you can get a good discussion going on any topic you're interested in :)

Detox, what? Your meals look drool- worthy, girl, and totally what I would eat if on a spring cleanse :) I've never tried coconut oil as a salad dressing on raw salads. I'm sure it was AHMazing, knowing that coconut is yummy on just about everything! Love your love for coconut and love you :)
Can't wait for the coconut curry recipe!

Thank you for your super sweet comment on my blog! I'm so glad I found yours! I just went through a few of your old posts and I love your "taste" in food (pun totally intended)! ;) And ohmigosh, you have the cutest pups EVER!

I like doing questions at the end of my posts because I think it helps jump start conversation in the comments. Sometimes my questions go with the post and other times they're just randomly picked from my brain, but it's always fun to read everybody's answers!

PS, I seriously want to dive head first into that salad! The spice combo sounds amazing!
yaaay almost chocolate time!!!!
also I have a question...why do all of your salads all look so incredible?????
oh and about the questions I do like them but I dont htink its a big deal at all if a blog doesnt have them! I like asking questions on mine because I am so curious about certain topics
I love that salad, I would definitely give up chocolate if I got to eat that and the juice every day... for some reason when I cleanse I dont crave sweets but as soon as I incorporate them back in I crave them all the time.... crazy :/ congrats on half way though!
Oh my gosh, I almost posted that blessing on my blog this morning! Not really, but wouldn't that have been crazy? Cool words though. Thanks for sharing. :)

Loving the sound of that salad as I am obsessed with all things sweet potato, avocado, coconut, and cilantro. Yep, I basically want to dive into that bowl!

Love your babies. Cuddling pups warm my heart as well.
P.S. I'll eat some extra chocolate in your honor. :)

You really know how to put some great looking foods together!I love Sunwarrior protein it's delicious. You should post this on their facebook page! It's a great place to find different ways to use their proteins!
Hi Alaina Rose! Totally hear you with the food that looks swampy but tastes delicious. I'm DEFINITELY trying this salad (it's going to travel perfectly in my Lunch Bots, which I posted about here: http://www.outofliney.com/?p=189 ), and might take it to work when I start my new job in June. And congrats and being halfway through with the cleanse! I'd love to try one soon, and would definitely appreciate your insight!

Oh, and we have the same second/middle name (Rose)! Now I know why I like your blog so much ;)
