Friends and food.

Hello my sweet friends! How's it going? I hope that you are having an amazing Sunday and that your weekend has been filled with many simple pleasures that have made you smile :-)

I'm still in Southern California for a few more days, enjoying the warm weather and the company of old friends.

Yesterday I went to my friend, Kai's birthday party. He turned one year old! He got a guitar, among MANY other things. He's going to be a musician for sure! See?

Here's me and Kai's beautiful mama, my good friend Bri.

I meant to be taking photos all day yesterday, but I hardly busted out my camera at all. My friend, Joanna took most of the photos I'll be posting. (Thanks Joanna!)

It's been so nice reconnecting with some of my girls that I haven't seen in a long time!

Aside from my friends, there were A LOT of people at Kai's birthday party that I didn't know. Huge groups of people can be overwhelming at times, so what did I do? I made myself comfortable in the kitchen and prepared a HUGE bowl of guacamole with avocados, tomatoes, cilantro and limes that I picked up from the Farmer's Market in the morning. Everyone loved the guacamole and I quickly became known as the "guacamole girl." :-) Then today I made salads for Bri, her man and her grandma. When Bri's grandma saw the salad she said, "Well, look at you Miss Gourmet!" She loved it and wanted to know the name of my blog :-) I must say, it was a pretty delicious salad.

Greens, avocado, tomato, hummus, basalmic vinegar, goat cheese and a Dr. Praeger's veggie burger crumbled on top. I just can't seem to stay out of the kitchen. Even when it's not even my own kitchen!

I experienced so much joy this morning when I was making my rounds and reading some of the blogs that I enjoy on a daily basis. Gillian over at Confessions of a Young Woman occasionally features five blogs that she recently started reading and enjoying. Sweetness of Life was featured as one of those five! I was so touched and excited, I almost cried! Here's what Gillian had to say about me:

Sweetness of Life - Alaina Rose is one of those people that radiate positive energy and beauty.  I love reading about her healthy baked treats, her beautiful garden and her loving relationship with her man Woody.

How sweet is that?! :-) I love that my blog is being accepted and received so well. It's been so medicinal and fun for me and I just love that people are enjoying it and finding inspiration in it. I'm going to keep shining my light and sharing sweetness and positivity with you all. Thank you for being on this journey with me. I really like the idea of featuring blogs and sharing the love, so maybe I'll start doing that as well. The blogging community is so wonderful to be a part of. I appreciate everyone who has been reading and commenting. I always want to comment back to each of you individually but I don't have the option of doing so. If anyone knows of a way I am able to change the format of my comments, I am so open to suggestions! Thank you.

Sending love out there to each of you!

And you make me smile anytime I read your blog :)

Those salads look amazing, and you are radiant as ever, I could use a sunny day by the pool! I do the same thing at big parties when I don't know people...head to the kitchen and make food for others!

It looks like you are having such a great time with your friends! Getting together with old friends can be really fun! I agree that large groups of people can get overwhelming at times, it's good that you found some comfort.

On another note - maybe try one of these links and see if it helps with your comment problem. Maybe they won't, I'm just brainstorming!

Veggie burger on salad = yummmmy! Great idea. I love all of the pictures of you and your friends! You can tell you're from a warm place, because everyone has sun glasses and a nice tan. Put a bunch of Canadians in that picture and we'd all be wearing winter jackets and full on face masks.
