Beers and Balls!

Hi friends, how's it going? I'm just chillaxin' at home. Woody went out for a beer with some friends and I decided to stay home and be a good girl. I've decided to do a little booze cleanse and not drink at all for the entire month. I'm not much of a booze hound to begin with, but I LOVE beer! And sometimes I'll get to a point where I'm having at least one every day. When I notice that happening, I try to take a step back and go for a while without drinking to give my body the chance to detox and recover. So, for the entire month of March, I am booze free! Next, I'll give up sugar....but not this month ;-)

I'm so glad that I ended up practicing yoga today. I love how yoga brings me back home to myself. When I'm feeling disconnected or scattered or sad or anything, practicing yoga brings me back to a centered place where I feel balanced and whole. And happy!  I'm planning on going to a yoga class at Thrive tomorrow morning.

"They say that we have three rhythms in the body. The rhythm of our heart, the rhythm of our breath and the rhythm of our brainwaves. If we're able to affect one, then we can affect all three. The only one we can really manipulate is our breath. So, by manipulating the breath, by deepening the breath, you slow down the heart, you slow down the brainwaves and you become more present." -Clara Roberts Oss

BREATHE! :-)

I don't know what was going on with my dinner tonight. I didn't really feel like cooking and couldn't even decide what my body wanted. So first, I sat down and polished off a bunch of carrots and hummus. Then I had a small bowl of cereal with half a banana. Then I ate two gluten-free graham crackers and a little piece of chocolate! Not my best dinner ever. But I'm not gonna judge myself! It's all good. I'll have a better dinner tomorrow night.

Now for the exciting part of this post. One of the highlights of my day (aside from yoga) was making these delicious little balls of goodness!

No-Bake Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Balls

  • 2 tbsp oats
  • 2 tbsp flax seeds
  • 2 tbsp shredded coconut
  • 2 tbsp almond butter
  • 6-8 dates
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (or vanilla bean)
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • Dash of salt
  • 1-2 tbsp chocolate chips
Combine all ingredients except chocolate chips in food processor. Or if you're me and don't currently have a proper food processor, you use your loud, yet powerful cheap blender from Target. (Soon I'm going to treat myself with a vitamix and a nice food processor! It's long overdue, I tell you!) Once all of the ingredients are blended together, mix in the chocolate chips and form into balls.

This recipe only makes about 8 balls. So if you want more, be sure to double or triple the recipe!

Me posing with a ball! This is before yoga, before my shower and before I'm even fully awake. I'm just saying ;-)
I also made these!

No-Bake Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Balls

  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 2-3 tbsp peanut butter
  • 6-8 dates
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (or vanilla bean)
  • 1-2 tbsp chocolate chips
The same instructions apply to these balls. And these also only made about 7 or 8 balls so be sure to just double or triple the recipe if you need more balls :-) I think I'm about done saying "balls" for now. I think I'm just going to call "balls" nuggets from now on. I like it better. Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Nuggets? Yeah, that sounds good to me. :-)

Here I am again, but now I'm rocking my post yoga, post shower, post nugget glow! Much better :-)
Well, Woody just got home and he's emanating a beautiful beer glow so I'm going to go live vicariously through him and bask in that glow ;-)

Good night!
